Cindy Tomashek presented "Golden Shovel" Award At the
February 4th annual meeting, outgoing president Cindy Tomashek was
presented the "Golden Shovel Award" by incoming president Linda Orleff.
The award was given in appreciation for her many contributions to the
Shades of Green Hosta Society of Southeastern MN.
In 2005, Cindy
formed a small group who shared a common interest in the genus Hosta to
found SOGHS and become the first president. She led the society from a
start up to an active growing organization. There were 40 charter
members and since then our organization has grown to over 150 members.
Cindy is also active in the American Hosta Society and Midwest
Regional Hosta Society. She has exhibited in many of their Hosta Leaf
Shows winning numerous awards for her beautiful hosta leaves.
She was also instrumental in scheduling the Midwest Regional
Hosta Society Convention in Rochester in 2012 and serves as chairperson
for that event.
