to the website dedicated to the
celebration of Minnesota's favorite landscape plant,
the genus "Hosta !"
For
years it was known incorrectly as "Funkia" and to a very
small number of nurserymen, it still is.
The Hosta is a shade
tolerant, flowering, long-lived, clump-forming, perennial herb.
There
are thousands of known variations that display a gamete of SHADES OF
GREEN, varying sizes, and numerous leaf shapes. The diversity and
intrigue of the Hosta has inspired a small group of people in Southern
Minnesota to form a Hosta society.
SOGHS, founded in 2005, continues
to grow and has become an active large group of
enthusiasts.
